Chess uncertain history

The cradle of this game is reportedly Babylon. Their name comes from Persia, chess means the king. According to legend, the chess was invented by the scholar Philometer during the reign of Babylonian King Evilmerodach.

According to studies of ancient Indian and Arabic manuscripts, it can be assumed that this game comes from India about 6th century. In Persia, where the game was modified and renamed to Shatranj , we find the first mention of it around 600 AD. The oldest surviving figures date back to the 6th century. In spite of all the well-preserved and supposed truths, however, there is a conjecture that China is the cradle of this pastime since 2 centuries BC. As it is so ancient history is uncertain, but the important thing is that we can indulge in this sophisticated game today!

Later in the 9th century the Arabs conquered Sicily and from there the chess spread across Italy further to north and west. From there, their fame spread to France, England, Germany and the Nordic countries. It is interesting that in Russia in the 16th century talks about such experts as nowhere in Europe and Tsar Ivan the Terrible apparently held chess very messy ..

Because chess was played for large sums, the Church and the authorities severely punished the game. Many publications have been written about this game and international tournaments took place as early as the 16th century.
